In Hindostan, an inn or caravans era. Cholula, an inland town of Mexico, state of La Puebla, in a fertile plain S. of the Cordillera of the Malinche, & m. W.N.W. of Puebla, and 64 S.E. of Mexico; Lat. 19° 2' 6" N., Lon. 98° 13′ 15′′ W. C. was compared by Cortez, in the 16th century, with the most populous cities of Spain; but it declined with the rise of Puebla. It is still, however, a considerable place, and po e es some fine Aztec antiquities, the principal of which is a huge pyrаmid or teocali, occupying an area almost double the base of the great Egyptian pyramid of Cheops, though its height is only 164 ft. Humboldt and other authorities regard it as bearing a remarkable analogy to the temple of Belus, and other ancient structures of the Oriental world. Pop. Estimated at 14,000.
