{ointf -mcnf) [tinguentum], A fatty material of the consistence of butter, generally impregnated with a medicinal substance, and used for application to the skin. O., Maury’s, one composed of one dram of mercury nitrate and half a dram each of powdered opium and rhubarb to an ounce of simple ointment. It is used as an application to ulcers. 456
