[Gr. ἀντίχειρ (anticheir) = the thumb; from ἀντί ( anti ) = opposed to, and χείρ (cheir) = the hand.] Anat. The thumb; so called from being opposed to the rest of the hand. * ăn-ti-chrē-sis, s .
