tree violet (trevi"olet)

tree-warbler (trē'wâr"blėr), n. Any Old World warbler of the genus (or section of Sylvia ) Hy polais, as the icterine, H. icterina; the melodious, H. polyglott a; the olive, H. olive to rum; the olivaceous, H. pallid a; the booted, H. cal i gat a. They are a small group, connecting the willow warblers ( Phyllos cop us ) with the reed-warblers ( Acrocepha large bill of the latter. They lay eggs of a French-gray having even tail of the former or salmon ground-color. Compare parallel use of wood warbler for a certain group of American warblers. tree-wax (tre'waks), n.
