(end”ar-ter-i tis) [Gr. ἔνδον within + ἀρτηρία artery]. Inflammation of the intima of an artery. Θ. def or’‘mans, chronic end arteritis characterized by fatty degeneration of the arterial ti ues, with the formation of deposits of lime-salts. e. oblit’erans, endart crit is followed by collapse and closure of the smaller branches. e. prolif’erans, overgrowth of fibrous ti ue in the internal layers of the aorta.
