Apocalypse

(a-pok'a-lips.) [Gr apokalypto, I disclose.] (Script.) The Greek name of the last book of the New Testament, termed in English Revelations. Ithas been generally attributed to the apostle St. John, but some wholly reject it as spurious. On account of its metaphorical language, the A. has been explained differently by almost every writer who has ventured to expound it; and for the same reason it is one of those parts of the Bible which have furnished all sects with quotations to support their creeds or opinions.
