[Lat. a uri pig mentum: auri = of gold, gen it. of aurum = gold, and pig mentum = a pigment, from pingo = to paint. Named from its brilliant yellow colour, and from the old idea, now known to be erroneous, that it contains gold.] Min.: Orpiment, the sesquisulphuret of arsenic.
