Anopheles

(an-of’el-éz) (Gr. ἀνωφελής hurtful]. A genus of insects (mosquitos) of the family Culicideg, whose members are the hosts of malarial, parasites, their bite being the means of transmitting malaria. See mosquito and malaria.
