loam-molding

(lom’m6l’ding), n. In foundry- work, the making of loam-molds in general. The term is used especially of the act of striking up the surfaces of molds by means of templets controlled by parallel guides, or, in case the surfaces are cylindrical, by a central pivot and radial arms, to which the templets are attached. Sometimes cores are formed on a barrel or central cylinder, and then turned on the barrel by means of a tool resting on the loam-board.
