EXTRAVASATION

(Lat. extra, external to, and vas, a ve el.) A term applied to fluids when out of their proper receptacles or ve els. Thus when blood is thrown out upon the brain, or into any of the cavities of the body, it is said to be extravasated. [s. 450]
