Magnetic Intensity

—The amount of the earth’s magnetic force at any place; in the northern hemisphere it is the resultant of two component forces at right angles to each other, one acting in a vertical direction tending to depre the north seeking pole of a magnetic needle, and the other acting in a horizontal direction compelling the needle to point to the magnetic north.
