Dongola

(dong-gō'lah,) in E. Africa, a prov. of Upper Nubia, b. N. by Maha , and S by the Sheygya country; bet. Lat. 180 and 19° 30′. It produces indigo. C. New Dongola. The Egyptians under Ibrahim Pasha dispo e ed the Mamelukes of this region, in 1820. [s. 297]
