Orlop-beams

Hold-beams fitted below the lower-deck-beams, in ships having three complete decks; but the term is also usually applied to the hold-beams of the so called „ Three-deck-ships,” though having only two laid decks. See description of the various types of ve els page 2 and Plates 7.19 & 20. is.
