korybant

[CORYBANT.] kor-ý-nit, s. [CORYNITE.] kos, s. [Heb. kos a cup (?).] A Jewish measure of capacity, of about four cubic inches. kō-sine, s. [Aby in i an ko (u) (so); -ine.] Chem.: C31H38010. The active principle of the Kou o plant. It crystallizes in yellow needles; insoluble in water, but very soluble in ether, chloroform, benzol, or boiling alcohol. It melts at 142°; when heated to 150°, with acetic anhydride, or hex acetate, C31H32 (C2H3O)6010, is obtained, which melts at 135°.
