EDGE, WALTER EVANS

(1873), a U. S. senator, b. at, Philadelphia, s. of William and Mary Evans Edge. He was educated in public schools. He began as a printers ‘devil’ and later was prop. of the Atlantic City Daily Pre and the Atlantic City Evening Union. In 1879 he became journal clerk of the price Jersey Senate and after being f secretary of the senate, member of the New Jersey A embly, and serving in various other political positions he was elected governor of New Jersey for the term of 1917-20 but resigned in 1919 to _ take a seat in the United States Senate _ for the term of 1919-25, ridge, War wicks hire, England; scene of first battle in Civil War, Oct. 23, 1642.
