Neodymium

Nd. At. wt. 140.8. Principal constituent of didymium; discovered by Carl Auer von Welsbach 1885. The salts are very similar to those of didymium, being of a reddish-violet color and showing a characteristic absorption spectrum. Neolithic Implements. shortest being 4 ft. 10 in. The skulls are orthognathic and oval, with oval face. Some of the shinbones were platycnemic. Caves containing remains of this character have been found from Ireland to Gibraltar. The cairns and tumuli found scattered over Ireland, England, etc., show evidences of having been constructed by a similar race. On the Continent are caves that also have remains of a brachycephalic or Celtic type, representing an invasion of conquering Gauls of taller stature, who drove the Iberians before them into Wales on the north, and the Pyrenees south.
