Amblyopia

(am-ble-o/-pe-ah) [a/iftMg, dulled; uip, eye]. Dimne of vision, especially that not 3ue to refractive errors or organic disease of the eye. It may be congenital or acquired, being due, in the latter case, to the use of tobacco {A. nicotinic a), or alcohol, or to other toxic influences; to traumatism; or it may be hysteric. Nyctalopia and hemeralopia are other forms; it may arise from entoptic phenomena, such as muscce vohtantes, micropsia, megalops i a, tneta?norphopsia, etc. It may take the form of contracted fields of vision, of color-blindne , or anesthesia of the retina. A. exanopsia, amblyopia from disuse, or from non-use. 48
