[Lat. asportatio, from asporto to carry away: abs from, and por to to carry.] 1. Ordinary Language: The act of carrying away; the state of being carried away. 2. Law : The removal of goods with the intention of stealing them. If a person, designing to steal silver plate, be surprised when he has done no more than remove the plate from the chest in which it was and put it on the floor, this is enough to constitute the felonious offence of larceny.
