[ The garnishee , of course, has, as against the attachment, all the defences which would be available to him against the defendant, his alleged creditor. Encyc . Brit ., III. 51. garnishee (gär-ni-shē'), v . t. In law , to stop in the hands of a third person, by legal proce (money due or property belonging to the plaintiff's debtor), in order to require it to be paid over to plaintiff in satisfaction of his demand: as, to garnishee the wages of a debtor, or his bank account.
