Duck on the Rock

Boys' game in America, derived from England. Each boy has a stone called a duck. A large stone called the duck stone is placed on the ground and a place near it is chosen for "home." One of the players puts his stone on the duck stone, and the others throw their ducks in turn and endeavor to knock it off. As each throws, he runs up to his stone and watches his chance to carry it back to the "home." If the one whose duck is on the rock can catch any of the others while carrying back his stone before reaching the line, the one caught must take the catcher's place, but if the duck is knocked off the rock, its owner must replace it before he can touch any one.
