PALMERS TON

VISCOUNT, the English statesman, was bom in 1784. In 1807 he was Junior Lord of the Admiralty, in 1809 Secretary of War. and in 1830 Foreign Secretary. He supported Catholic emancipation and the repeal of the Com Laws. While Foreign Secretary under Lord Melbourne, he gained his reputation in conducting affairs. He died in 1865.
