Bondservant

A slave; a servant who has not the liberty to quit his master's service. "Thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bond servant." Lev.xxv.39. Bond-service, n. Slavery; the condition of a bondservant, "Upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bond-service." 1 Kings ix. 21. Bond-slave, n. A person in a state of slavery; one whose servile condition deprives him of the action of free-will. "Commonly the bond-slave is fed by his lord, but here the lord was fed by his bond-slave." - Sir J. Davies.
