[Eng. strangl (e), v.; -er.] 1. One who or that which strangles or destroys. [STRANGLE, v.] Farriery: A disease attacking horses, generally between the ages of three and five years. It consists of an absce , which occurs between the branches of the lower jaw. It is considered contagious. Also applied to a similar infectious disease in swine. "Sider it is hath a peculiar vertue for to cure swine of their squinsies or strangles."-P.
