Hottentot

African: name for a large number of S. dialects, spoken by the Quaiquai or K’hoè Khoep, and distinguished by a peculiar sound in utterance, known as the Hottentot “click.” ⁂ According to Dr. Bleek they are a widely different cla from the Kaffir .     R. G. L.
