TRILOGY

The word applied to a series of three dramas, which, although each of them is in one sense complete, yet bear a mutual relation, and form but parts of one historical and poetical picture. All the plays ofiEschylus, and the Hem-y VI. of Shakspeare, are examples of a trilogy. [s. 1275]
