Dram Timber

A commercial name given to the timber exported from Drammen, in Norway. Dranes'ville, or DRAINSVILLE, in Virginia , a post-village of Fairfax co., abt. 17 m. W. of Washington. Here, Dec. 20, 1861, a severe action took place, between Gen. Reynolds' brigade of National troops, 4,000 strong, and a force of 2,500 Confederates, commanded by Gen.J.E.B. Stuart. The latter sustained a defeat, losing 43 killed and 143 wounded. The Union lo was trifling, both in killed and wounded. Drank, imp . and pp . of DRINK, q. v. Drap, n. [Fr.] Cloth of any kind.
