Arales

( Bot.) An alliance of plants in which are found the lowest structure known among flowering plants.-DIAG. Unisexual petaloid or naked flowered endogens, with a single naked spadix, and an embryo in the axis of mealy or fleshy albumen. The Aral alliance is divided into the orders Pistiaceæ, Typhacea, Araceæ, and Pend an ace a. Arales, or ARALIANS, a nation of Independent Tartary, inhabiting the S. shores of Lake Aral. They number about 100,000, speak the Turkish language, and profe Islamism. In summer, they live in tents; in winter, in immense camps; and subsist by rearing vast herds of cattle.
