Melieæ (meliee)

pl. [NL. (Adr. Ju ieu, 1830 ), Meliacea. The cells of the ovary contain two ovules, and the seeds have a fleshy albumen and plano-convex or foliaceous cotyledons. Melia is the type genus. Melierax (me-li'e-raks), n. [NL., Chanting Hawk ( Melierax music us). founded by G. R. Gray in 1840; the chanting hawks. There are several species, the best-known of which are M. can or us, cantans, or music us of South Africa and M. polyzonus. Melifera, meliferous. See Mellifera, melliferous.
