Theological Seminary, 1855; was pastor at And over, Ma ., 1855-61; at Oakland, Cal., 1861-72, and since 1874; profe or of systematic theology and church history in the Pacific Theological Seminary, Oakland, since 1870; a ociate editor of The Pacific since 1863. He was one of the commi ion of twenty-five appointed by the National Council of Congregational Churches to prepare a statement of doctrine and a catechism (1881-84).
