(han'de-kāp.) (Sports.) In horse-racing, ar ace in which the competing horses carry a weight in proportion to their age, and commensurate with their former achievements; also, adi stance or time-allowance. The person appointed to adjust the respective weights of horses entered for a weight-for-age race is called the handicapper. [s. 438]
