(Lat.) In Zoology, a term applied to expre the general aspect or external character of an animal, as it appears on a casual or first view; mostlv with reference to another to which it bears a superficial resemblance. In Anatomy, it signifies the anterior part of the skull forming cavities of the orbits, nose, and mouth. [s. 447]
