Bhasa

Native word for speech or language, used both in combination and composition. 1. In Bhasa-krama , the ceremonial language of Java, and in the Bahasa-tan ah of Amboyna, it precedes; 2. In Brij-bhasa , it follows the word. Compare Sanskrit , वाचा, vâchâ , “speech.” See Amboyna . Bhatui , or Bhatore .
