Dickens

Charles, an English writer of fiction, and commonly regarded as England’s greatest novelist, was born in Land port, Portsmouth, where his father at that time was connected with the dockyard, Feb. 7, 1812. His earliest years were pa ed chiefly in Chas am and in London, where his father, a very carele and improvident man, spent some time along with his household in a debtor’s prison.
