(Lat. carr us, a cart.) Any rude cart. The Irish car is a one-horse cart, with very low broad wheels, used for carting out manure and carting home grain in the case of soft peaty soils. The Irish jaunting car is a kind of one-horse chaise, commonly without springs, in which the people sit back to back, and with their faces looking sideways. [s. 210]
