[Lat. mulgeo =to milk.] Bot.: Blue Sow-thistle; a genus of liguliflorous Composites, tribe Hieraciese. Involucre double, containing many flowers; pappus stiff and brittle; beak very short; achenes much compre ed. Mul gedium alpinum, Alpine Blue Sow-thistle, is found in the Lochnagar and Clova Mountains. M. flor i danum, a species of this country, is called from its bitterne Gall of the Earth. Mul-house, s.
