IMG:content-0510.png:[graphic] The medical school was founded 1782, that of law 1817, of theology 1819, of science 1848, of dentistry 1868. Its official connection with the State was terminated 1865. In 1896 it had in all departments 366 instructors and 2,396 students in arts and sciences. The total number in all departments was 3,600, of whom 41 were in divinity, 465 in law, and 531 in medicine. The whole number of graduates to 1890 was 16,930, of whom 11,685 gained the A.B. degree, 3,047 M.B. or M.D., 2,281 LL.B., and 504 B.D. The main library contains 334,000 vols.; all the libraries 466,410.
