Geden, John Dury

D.D. (St. Andrew's, Scotland, 1885), Wesley an; b. at Hastings, Eng., May 4, 1822; educated at Kings wood School, near Bristol (1830-36), then privately; was probationer for the Wesley an ministry, 1846; ordained, 1850; was a istant cla ical tutor in the Wesley an Theological College, Richmond, Surrey, 1846-51; profe or of Hebrew and biblical literature in the Wesley an Theological College, Didsbury, near Manchester, 1856-83; resigned through failure of health, and died in the month of March, 1886. He was a member of the British Old-Testament Revision Company, 1870-85. He was the author of the Fernley lectures for 1874, The Doctrine of a Future Life, as contained in the Old-Testament Script 90 ures, 2d ed. 1877; and Didsbury Sermons: Fifteen Discourses preached in the Wesley an College Chapel, 1878.
