(lows) (L. pedic ulus]. A general name for various degraded parasitic’ insects; the true lice, which infest mammals, belong to the suborder Anoplu’ra. Those which are parasitic upon man are Pedic’ulus cap’it is, or head-louse: P. cor’ por is, the body or clothes-louse: and P. pu’bis, or crablouse, which lives in the hair upon the pubes and in the eyelashes and eyebrows.
