John Alexander Paters on (son of Archibald Mac bride of Cam belt own, Argylls hire). b. Feb. 1819; pupil of Wm. Spence of Liverpool, sculptor; pupil of and manager for Samuel Joseph, sculptor, London; a ociate of Liverpool academy 1848, member 1850, secretary 1851 and 1852; showed many important works at Liverpool academy from 1836; executed many portrait-busts and monuments in and near Liverpool; executed the full-size statues of the four seasons in front of Garswood hall for Lord Gerard; exhibited 3 pieces of sculpture at R.A. 1848–53. d.
