[L. ex, out, trahere, to draw.] Extract, solid extract; a cla of pharmacopeial preparations obtained by the evaporation of alcoholic or aqueous solutions of the soluble principles of drugs; they are of soft pilular consistency or in the form of dry powder. Most of the extracts are four times the strength of the crude drug.
