Capernaum

a city of Galilee in Palestine, about 70 miles N. by E. of Jerusalem, situated on the N. W. shore of the Sea of Tiberias. It was here that Jesus Christ began his public ministry; and in its neighborhood he delivered the Sermon en the Mount.
