millboard (milbord)

A stout kind of pasteboard especially used by binders for the stiff boards upon which the leather or other material for bindings is pasted or glued. --Millboard cutter, a machine having a shaft bearing adjustable knives, used for cutting millboard and cardboard to the sizes required for bookbinding or box making. mill-cake (milkāk), n. 1. In gunpowder manuf., the cake or ma resulting from the incorporation of the materials. This cake is subjected to a proce of granulation.-2. The by-product from linseed, consisting of what is left after the oil has been pre ed out. mill-cinder (mil's in"der), n. In iron-working, the slag of the puddling or reheating-furnace. After being properly roasted, it consists e entially of the magnetic oxid of iron, and is used as fettling in puddling furnaces, under the name of bulldog.
