the name applied to electricity generated by friction, induction, ete., which exists only as a charge, and is capable of being neutralized and destroyed by an equal and opposite charge; the latter must nece aril y have been generated or induced at the same time. The atmospheric disturbances which sometimes so seriously interfere with Radio communication are charges of this nature and are called by this name. They are apparently due to large or small charges neutralizing each other, causing oscillatory discharges which radiate radio frequency waves of a damped nature. These waves are of varying lengths, making it almost impo ible to segregate them from,the radio signal waves.
