rōt′if-ėr, n. one of a cla of minute aquatic animals, popularly called wheel-animalcules, with an anterior equipment of cilia whose movements suggest a rapidly rotating wheel:— pl. Rotif′era .— adjs. Rotif′eral ; Rotif′erous ; Rō′tiform , wheel-shaped: ( bot. ) having a short tube and spreading limb. [L. rota , a wheel, ferre , to carry.]
