Phalangidea (falanjidea)

pl. [NL., phalangid ean (fal-an-jid'ē-an), a. Of or pertaining to the Phalangidea. phalangiform (fa-lan ji-fôrm), a. [L. phalanx ( phalang- ), phalanx, + form a, form.] Having phalangiform IMG:content-2819.png:[graphic] the shape or appearance of a phalanx. Encyc. Brit., III. 715. Phalangigrada (fal-an-jig'ra-da), n. pl. [NL., neut. pl. of phalangigradus: see phalangigrade.] A division of ruminant artiodactyl mammals, represented by the family Camelidæ: so called from the peculiar construction of the feet, which causes the animals to walk on phalanges instead of on horny hoofs. More fully called Pecora Phalangigrada. Also Tylopod a. phalangigrade (fa-lan'ji-grad), a. [ phalangigradus, the cheliceres are exposed, diversiform, well developed; and the pedipalps are moderately long. There are many genera besides Phalangium. Also Phalangidæ.
