pl. [Gr. kryptos = hidden, secret, and tetra meres quadrupartite, divided into four.] [TETRAMER A.] Entom.: A name sometimes given to Latreille's section of Coleoptera (Beetles). They are called Trimer a because they have apparently only three joints to the tarsi. The term Crypto tetramer a implies that there is a fourth joint concealed, as is the case. It is nearly inclosed within the adjacent one. cryp-to-the-çi-i, s. pl . [Gr. kryptos =hidden, secret, and theke a box, a chest.] Bot.: A small group of Muscacere (Mo es). Type Spiridens.
