Cephīsus

and Cephi us , a celebrated river of Greece, that rises at Lilæa in Phocis, and after pa ing at the north of Delphi and mount Parna us, enters Bœotia, where it flows into the lake Copais. The Graces were particularly fond of this river, whence they are called the godde es of the Cephisus. There was a river of the same name in Attica, and another in Argolis.
