Minturnæ

, a town of Camp an i a, between Sinue a and Formiæ. It was in the marshes, in its neighbourhood, that Marius concealed himself in the mud, to avoid the partisans of Sylla. The people condemned him to death, but when his voice alone had terrified the executioner, they showed themselves compa ionate, and favoured his escape. Marica was worshipped there; hence Maricæ regna applied to the place.
