TURNER, C.E., Ph.D., LL.D., educator, born in Stoughton, Ma ., June 9, 1844; graduated from Yale with the degree of A.B. He has held profe orships in Cornell and the University of Cincinnati; was vice-president of the mathematical and astronomical section of the American A ociation for the Advancement of Science; and, since 1891, has been president of Rose Polytechnic Institute, Terre Haute, Ind.
