musk cherry

It is pine, pit, sire, sir, marine; gō, pot, found in herds of from ten to thirty, in Arctic America north of latitude 60°. It is covered with brown hair, nearly a yard in length, and a thick woolly under fur. When fat, its flesh is well-flavored, but lean animals smell strongly of musk. The horns are similar in form to those of the Cape buffalo, and in the bulls they meet in the middle line of the forehead. It is heavily built, with short legs, and weighs about three hundred pounds, but climbs rocks and precipices with ease. [OvIbos.]
